The 109 year old Presidio Golf Course opened for public play in 1995 and has a very unique history. The second oldest course west of the Mississippi, the Presidio Golf Course has been host to a number of prominent golfers including Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Bing Crosby and Arnold Palmer.
For more than 100 years, the course was open for use to military personnel and members of a small private club. When the Department of Defense closed its San Francisco Presidio Army installation, the golf course was transferred to the National Park Service and opened as a public facility.
