San Francisco is known as one of the world’s most charismatic and cosmopolitan cities. World famous landmarks and hidden treasures highlight this fascinating tour. Spectacular scenery, diverse cultures, and a wild and colorful past are brought to life through the dynamic narration of knowledgeable guides. Sights visited may include: Golden Gate Bridge and Vista Point; The Cliff House and Ocean Beach; Golden Gate Park; Japanese Tea Garden; Twin Peaks; Victorian Neighborhoods; Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39; North Beach; Chinatown or Union Square.
TIME ON “THE ROCK” ALCATRAZ (CANCELLED)

Discovered in 1775, “The Rock” was first a lighthouse and then a U.S. Military disciplinary installation. In 1934, it became the most famous federal prison in U.S. history. Alcatraz was home to the likes of Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly, and Robert Stroud, “the Birdman of Alcatraz”. The tour includes a scenic ferry ride to the island, and a fascinating self-guided audio tour. These tapes were recorded by actual guards and inmates who occupied this desolate penitentiary. Following Alcatraz, you will enjoy time on your own to explore Fisherman’s Wharf and make a visit to the world famous sea lions!
GRAPE EXPECTATIONS – THE CALIFORNIA WINE COUNTRY (CANCELLED)

Today, guests will be offered a taste of the Sonoma Valley. We will visit a sparkling winery, Domaine Carneros. Built in the style of an 18th century French chateau and renowned for its deep-set traditions, the vineyard is owned by French champagne giant, Tattinger. Tours cover the complete method champenoise process and conclude in the tasting salon, with generous samples of their non-vintage brut, which can be sipped on the terrace.
We will also visit a still winery, Viansa, or if capacity does not permit, guests will visit an alternate winery. Located on a hilltop above the Sonoma Valley, the Tuscan inspired architecture and landscaping of this unique winery provides an elegant, yet comfortable, atmosphere for savoring extraordinary wines and foods. We will begin with a tour of the winemaking cave and continue with a comprehensive wine tasting in the hilltop villa. In the tasting they will learn the differences between chardonnay, merlot, pinot noir and cabernet sauvignon, as well as the process of wine making. The tour includes a lovely picnic style basket lunch overlooking the valley below.
In the quaint historical town of Sonoma, the group will enjoy time to browse the many charming gift, art and boutique shops, a cheese factory, historical California mission and more.
MUIR WOODS & SAUSALITO STYLE (CANCELLED)

Just across the world famous Golden Gate Bridge is magnificent Marin County, an area of great physical beauty, stretching from the Pacific Ocean to the San Francisco Bay. A leisurely first stop will be in Muir Woods, a majestic grove of the world’s oldest and tallest trees – the Giant Virgin Redwood Sequoias. Found nowhere else on earth, the redwoods are one of California’s most popular attractions. Leaving the tranquility of the Redwoods, the next visit will be to the bustling and Bohemian village of Sausalito, a charming artist’s colony on San Francisco Bay. Distinctive shops, galleries, boutiques and restaurants lure visitors from all over the world. You will have the opportunity to shop and browse through the various shops and galleries and still find time to have lunch on your own.

- Register now to ensure your reservation for tours. On-site registration will be limited and will be accommodated on a space-available basis only.
- Closing date for advanced registration is Monday, March 17. Tour registrations received after this date and on-site in San Francisco will be subject to availability and a surcharge of $5.00 per ticket. ICEM reserves the right to cancel tour programs if minimums are not met. Tours are based on a minimum of 20 passengers per vehicle.
- Full payment to “Key Events / USA Hosts” must accompany your registration form. All payments are due in the amount of U.S. dollars, VISA, MasterCard, American Express, traveler’s checks for on site purchase. No personal checks. Cash (onsite sales only) is accepted.
- Refunds will only be made if written notice is received by Monday, March 17. Refunds may be picked up at the Tour Desk. There will be no refunds for written requests received after Monday, March 17.
- All tours will depart from the San Francisco Hilton Hotel, Taylor Street. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour departure time.
- All tours are fully lectured and escorted * and are inclusive of fees, gratuities, admission and transportation. (* Alcatraz has individual recorded audio tour once on the island.)
